As a Christian you need Jesus for everything. The “Prince of Preachers”, Charles Spurgeon once said:
“If Christ is not all to you He is nothing to you. He will never go into partnership as a part Saviour of men. If He be something He must be everything, and if He be not everything He is nothing to you.”
In other words, Jesus must be everything to you or He’s nothing.
Let’s take a look at some reasons why you need Jesus today and every day.
1.) Jesus Died for You
1 John 4:8 reads, “God is Love.” Simple, yet profound.
He is a loving God who sent His son Jesus to dies on the cross and save us from our sins.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
The word sin translates to “missing the mark” or falling short of right action. We all miss the mark and fall short of God’s glory because we were all born into sin.
Romans 3:22-23 states, “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
2.) Perfect Love Casts out Fear
1 John 4:18 states, “Perfect love casts out fear.” This can be difficult for us to accept if we really think about what this means.
If there is no fear in love, this means that when we act out of fear, we cannot be acting out of love. These two do not co-exist.
As Christians, we must ask ourselves, and answer honestly:
- Do I let fear keep me from taking risks in life?
- Is there fear in my heart when I think about my finances?
- Do I pacify my spouse out of fear of anger or withdrawal of affection or sex?
- Am I afraid of being rejected by my social group when I go along with them?
- Do I hold fears that I’m not good enough or not worthy of love and acceptance?
We need Jesus’ perfect love to cast out fear so we do His will and have a close relationship with Him.
3.) Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself
The Bible says in Matthew 22:39 that Jesus said, “love thy neighbor as thyself.”
This means we must love God with all our heart, and from that overflow of endless love, we love each other.
4.) Jesus’ Love Is a Fountainhead
We need Jesus because he was the greatest leader, the only perfect example of non-judgment and love. John 3:17 states that Jesus “did not come to condemn the world…”
Jesus helps us remember this. We are loved perfectly and divinely at all times. And we can never be separate from this love.
We may choose not to allow God’s love in at times. But it is always available to us.
5.) Jesus Is the ONLY Way to Heaven
The Bible says there is no other way to salvation than through Jesus Christ.
No body says it better than Himself in John 14:6:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
We Need Jesus in All Our Affairs
We need Jesus to save us from our sins. In the silence of our heart, we are spoken to. Jesus gives us an open invitation.
