1.) Jesus Taught in Parables

One of the ways Jesus communicated his message was through parables—a earthly story that has a heavenly meaning. Parables was Jesus’ favorite technique when teaching crowds.

2.) Jesus Grew Up in Palestine

Jesus grew up in the small town of Nazareth, a part of Palestine then ruled by the Romans.

3.) Jesus Was a Child Preacher

At 12-years-old, Jesus was found preaching in the temple to adults.

4.) Jesus Was Ordinary-Looking

Isaiah 53:2b says “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.”

5.) Jesus’ Followers Saw Him Alive

Women claimed to have seen the risen Jesus. However, in those times, women were not qualified as witnesses.

6.) Jesus Didn’t Seem to Fast Often

Jesus was recorded fasting only one time in the Bible right before he was baptized and began his ministry.

Jesus was crucified on a hill outside of Jerusalem and buried in a nearby tomb. Archaeologists have found a location that is believed to be the same area.

Modern scholars date the year of Jesus birth anywhere between 6 B.C. and 4 B.C., not 0 B.C. like most people think.

When sentenced to crucifixion, Jesus did not ask for freedom. He took on the cross without a fight.

10.) The Earth Quaked After Jesus’ Death

The Gospel of Matthew states that an earthquake happened on the day of the crucifixion. Scientists discovered proof that an earthquake occurred in Israel around year 33 AD.

11.) Jesus Was Crucified at the Age of 33

Christian scholars have estimated that Jesus’ ministry lasted 3 1/2 years. He began his ministry at the age of 30. This means Jesus died at the age of 33.

12.) Jesus Was on the Cross for Six Hours

Jesus’ was on the cross from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

13.) Jesus Began His Ministry at 30 Years Old

Although Jesus was wise from a young age, he didn’t begin his ministry until age 30.

14.) Judas Betrayed Jesus for 30 Silver Pieces

One of Jesus’ disciples, Judas, betrayed Jesus and turned him in to collect 30 pieces of silver.

15.) Jesus’ Executors Never Presented His Body

One of the lesser known Jesus facts is that Jesus’ enemies never presented his corpse. The tomb was left empty and Jesus’ body was never found.

16.) Astronomers Recorded the Star of Bethlehem

Astronomical evidence suggests that the Star of Bethlehem was a comet which was visible in 5 BC. It was even recorded in ancient Chinese history.

17.) Turning Water Into Wine Was His First Miracle

One of Jesus’ first miracles was turning water into wine. Although we haven’t seen this kind of miracle lately, there are still miracles in our world today.

18.) Israel’s Religious Leaders Sentenced Jesus To Death

In Mathew 26:3-4 it tells us “the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, assembled together to the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. And they consulted so that they might take Jesus by guile and kill Him.”

19.) Mary Traveled a Long Distance While Pregnant

Mary traveled 70 miles on a donkey from Nazareth to Bethlehem while carrying Jesus.

20.) An Un-Named Disciple Was at the Cross with Jesus

The bible says that several women and one disciple stood “near the cross” during the crucifixion. The disciple is identified only as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.”
